The Winning Touchdown

7 Sep

What’s not to love about fall? Fat orange pumpkins, hot apple pie, shorter days, warm sweaters, a chill in the air. And let’s not forget stores that are already crammed with all that magnificent trick-or-treat candy.

And then there’s football. Fall means football, right?

Last night the Boise State University Broncos played the Virginia Tech Hokies. Even if you’re not a BSU fan, you’d pretty much have to agree that this was an exciting game.

I’ll admit to being distracted by friends and food for much of the game. And to be honest, toward the end I kind of lost faith in BSU who was down by 4 points with just two minutes to go. But I should have remembered — the Broncos don’t like to give up.

This team knows that there are times in your life when it looks like you’re losing the game. That’s when you have to fight hard. You have to be stronger than you ever imagined you could be. You have to have courage. You have to have faith. You don’t give up till the game is over.

Because sometimes, even in life, the winning touchdown comes in the very last minute of the game.

Amazing BSU game! Another reminder that it only matters who is ahead at the buzzer when the game ends… Kind of like life–it matters eternally who is faithful at the time when Jesus returns.
